Front Cover Conventions:

·        Cover lines containing advertisements of articles inside the magazine

·        Competition opportunities

·        Use of Terminal area

·        Bright colours to catch the reader’s eye

·        Bold fonts to catch the reader’s eye

·        Pull quotes from articles inside the magazine

·        Small pictures advertising articles inside the magazine

·        A large picture covering the whole page advertising the magazines main article/feature

Contents Page Conventions:

·        The use of route of the eye

·        The use of principle of thirds

·        Bright colours to advertise key articles

·        Small pictures to further advertise articles

·        A large picture to advertise the main article

·        Page numbers indicating where the article can be found

·        An editor’s note

·        A subscription offer

·        Placing main articles in bolder fonts to catch the reader’s more

·        Placing smaller articles in smaller fonts because there not as important

·        Use of terminal area

·        Use of pugs

Double Page Spread Conventions:

·        The use of route of the eye

·        The use of principle of thirds

·        Colours used which suit the style of the double page spread

·        One side has the main text on it whilst the other usually has a large picture of the person featured in the double page spread

·        Pull quotes from the main text

·        The Writers actual notes aside from the main text

·        Bold headlines to introduce the article efficiently

·        Double page spreads are sometimes used for question and answer texts

·        Use of Terminal area to advertise future articles or other things

Conventions of Music Magazines:

·        Information on upcoming musical events

·        Pictures from musical events

·        Reviews of musical gigs/concerts

·        Competitions to see a musical act live

·        Exclusive previews of upcoming albums

·        Free track downloads

·        Festival reviews/information

·        They usually focus on one area of music i.e. rock, pop or R&B

Conventions of the Magazine I will be making:

·        Will include reviews of festivals

·        Will focus on Grime music

·        Will include pictures of related grime acts

·        Will include reviews of latest gig acts

·        Information on upcoming grime gigs/concerts

·        Information on upcoming grime acts

·        Reviews on current grime acts

·        Competition offers

·        Free track download offers

·        Will use a mode of address appropriate for my specific target audience ( Youngsters interested in grime music)
